At Skyflux Marketing, we understand the challenges faced by entrepreneurs. That's why we offer Fractional CMO services, providing you with the expertise you need to achieve your goals without the high cost of a full-time executive.

My passion for sales and marketing started young. At 5 years old, I was already figuring out how to turn a profit, selling carpet squares to Tustin neighborhood girls for their dollhouses. This entrepreneurial spirit has fueled my 30-year career, where I've consistently delivered results.

My track record speaks for itself: My work has directly contributed to 4 successful company acquisitions and exits, generating exceptional returns on equity for company owners.

Career Inspirations

I’d like to take a moment here to thank some folks here that were instrumental in my career and had a big impact on my life.

Charlie Sacrison, District Manager, Pitney Bowes

Selling copier machines was my first real job out of Cal State Fullerton. After two months I wanted to quit. I asked Charlie who was my boss’s boss at the time “What is the secret to selling copiers?” He said: “The secret to selling copiers is the same secret to success in life. And that is, the harder you work the luckier you get. If you can sell copiers you can sell anything.” By putting in more effort, I made the Presidents Club and was consistently a top-selling rep in Orange County for the two years I was there and applied these learnings throughout my career. Thanks to Charlie, I learned a great lesson about the rewards that come with a stronger work ethic.

Clark Harrison, VP Sales, Amplicon

I once worked a phone sales job selling lease financing solutions on the east coast. My day started at 5 am. My boss Clark beat me in the office every day. One day I decided to show up at 4 am in my weak attempt to one-up him. But he came in at 3 am that day. Clark showed me the value of leading by example and rolling up your sleeves to get stuff done. He also taught me how to build cross-functional relationships to build trust and drive win-win success together.

John Wallace, Vice President, GM Iron Mountain

I was a sales and marketing manager at Accutrac Software. Shortly after we were acquired, John Wallace assumed GM duties for the Accutrac team. John taught me the value of patience and having a calm demeanor to overcome challenges. Moreover, he taught me about goal setting including the importance of personal goals & self-affirmation. After meeting with John I wrote down: “I want to run marketing for an Internet start-up.” Soon after, Robert Ardell called me.

Robert Ardell, Managing Partner Co-Founder of Kore-1

Prior to starting Kore-1, Robert lead an investor team to help a wholesale consumer electronics distributor create a direct-to-consumer business from scratch. I had previously worked with Robert as their New Business Development Manager responsible for strategic relationships at Xdrive Technologies. Robert recruited me to be the General Manager of a startup concept: UncleVic.com. Despite the fact that I had no prior eCommerce experience, he trusted me to write the marketing plan, execute it, and build a team and a develop this new DTC sales channel from scratch. In less than two years, with a limited marketing budget, and despite enormous competition, we achieved 20,000+ online conversions at 40%+ margins driving $3mm in sales from scratch. Robert taught me the value of doing more with less in a start-up environment and implementing guerrilla marketing via low-cost high-impact solutions. I also learned to take the time to celebrate milestones.

Robyn Hawkins, CEO of Big Train

Robyn hired me to create and implement a digital marketing plan at Big Train. She taught me the value of preparation, data analytics and focus. I remember her saying many times: “That which cannot be measured cannot be improved”. It was here where I learned the power of data and analytics to help make informed business decisions.

Steve Dickler, CEO of Chefs’ Toys

I’ll always be indebted to Steve for entrusting me with rebranding his baby— his company after 20 years in business. It was an awesome experience building a team, launching multichannel eCommerce, complete rebranding, social media marketing, PR, and playing my part that contributed to a successful acquisition. Steve, I hope you’re enjoying retirement.

These are just a few people that have made a positive impact on my career. I’d love to put these insights and experiences to work for you. How can I help?

Good selling,

Jim
